This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Fictate™ mobile and web application (the "App"). It applies specifically to the App; our general website privacy notice is available at fictioncourses.com/privacy.
Who We Are
The App is operated by RockHaven Partners LLC DBA FictionCourses.com ("we," "us," "our"), located in the United States. For any privacy question, contact us at support@fictioncourses.com.
Children's Privacy
The App and any products and services offered through it are not intended for persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
The Personal Information We Collect and Use

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in the App.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- To provide the core service: recording, transcribing, cleaning up, and syncing your work across your devices.
- To process your audio into text and to run the optional Cleanup Tool on your transcripts.
- To manage your account, subscription, and plan limits.
- To respond to support requests and to keep the service secure and working.
- To send you service and onboarding emails about your account and getting started — and, with your consent, optional newsletters, writing tips, and product updates, which you can opt out of at any time.
How Your Audio and Transcripts Are Processed
To turn your recordings into text, your audio is sent securely to OpenAI for transcription. If you use the Cleanup Tool, your transcript text is sent securely to Anthropic to correct punctuation, capitalization, and obvious transcription errors. These providers process your content only to return the result to you. Under their API terms, content sent through their APIs is not used to train their models.
Who We Share Your Personal Information With
We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the App, who process it on our behalf:

We will never sell, trade, or transfer your personally identifiable information to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.
Use and Transfer of Your Information Out of the EEA / UK
The App is operated in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States and by the providers listed above. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, your information may be transferred to, and processed in, a country whose data-protection laws differ from those in your country. We rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers where required.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including the EEA/UK under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Data Retention
Your transcript text, dictionary, outlines, and settings are retained in your account until you delete them or close your account. Your audio recordings are retained according to your subscription plan's audio-retention window; after that window, the audio file is deleted while your transcript text remains available. You can delete individual recordings at any time.
Keeping Your Personal Information Secure
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored in private cloud storage tied to your account. We restrict access to your content to what is needed to operate the service. However, no security measures are absolute, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you provide.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
